Lesbian Ghost Hunters Book #4

I couldn’t tell if R.J. was mad at me or just making an effort to distance herself so that it didn’t happen again, but I didn’t particularly like it. I guess that was the point.

After her romantic advances are rebuffed, things are frosty between R.J. and the new ghost hunter. Luckily there are plenty of ways, and women, to keep her mind off of it...

EXCERPT

R.J. held a hand out to Leah. She didn’t take it. She looked nervously to me instead, her hand clenching my fingers.

“Don’t worry, little lamb,” said R.J., still smiling that predatory grin. “You know why you’re here don’t you?”

Leah blushed even deeper and ducked her head so we couldn’t see her eyes. It’s funny how ghosts can blush even when there’s no real blood running through real veins. Just a memory left over from when one was alive. “Yes,” she said, softly.

“And you know why we’re here?” asked R.J., just as softly.

Leah squirmed a little on the spot and didn’t look up. It took her a long time to answer. “Yes,” she breathed.

“Good,” said R.J. She stared down at Leah, her eyes hungry like a wolf watching its meal. “Don’t worry,” she said. “We’ll go slow.”

The fourth book in the series seems to have R.J. and grasshopper on functional terms. I was glad that the curious working partnership had mended somewhat. By this book, I have to say it would be complicated to understand the ongoing relationship, if you haven't read the series up till now. Not impossible, but many fine nuances would be missed. Currently the team finds themselves near an actual graveyard and church. Grasshopper is a bit dumbfounded; R.J. appears as if nothing is amiss. Yep, another day at the office for our dynamic duo!

Grasshopper is one of the many nicknames that R.J. calls her associate and student. One additional name got added within this book...sweetpea. I listed all the curious appellations in my review of book three. After being disappointed that the main character in book one didn't have a name, it has now become a bit of a riotous ongoing joke. She has not made any effort to insist that R.J. call her by her birth name, so I imagine she is copacetic with this arrangement. Grasshopper is a very curious young woman. Incredible!

R.J. is quite the master of the leer. She can impart an amazing assortment of emotions and justifiable vaingloriousness with that perfected facial expression. From what I have seen from these first four books, she is also a masterful ghost hunter. Since R.J. has no qualms about getting naked with anyone and is also truly sexy, she is in her element when they finally encounter the ghost in the church. I think one may need to take R.J.'s toughness with a grain of salt. However, in the big picture that has yet to be determined. She scares me a bit, but I find her most entertaining and seductive. Amazing!

Behind the very amusing duo, nothing every seems to develop in any manner I could imagine. That is unquestionably a kick and a half. Plus this book's ménage à trois can mix and shift between all sorts of roles to successfully ease the ghost onto her separation from the mortal plane. So the current book is continuously enlightening, delightfully hot, and never endingly ingenious. This short story brought me full circle back to my tall, cool, icy beverage which is definitely more my style. If a bit of kinkiness tinkles your fancy, then book four hits the mark. I recommend and suggest reading the series from the beginning. Astounding!
