An easy read that gets right to the point. I love the idea that trust is confidence. And I am excited to take my team through the Trust Assessment, that is included with this book, and begin the process of cultivating trust in our organization, in our families and in our community.
The Art of Mastering Trust is a required read for any young leader looking to make their greatest contribution to the work they love. Written from one sojourner to another, Aubrey generously shares how to create the conditions in which you can gain that which is far better than position or possessions, and is the only effective key to living and leading well; trust. Grateful for this book and look forward to leading my team through the included Trust Assessment.
Aubrey writes so intimately that you can practically hear him speak the words on the page. It is with great care, humility, and a genuine passion for his audience that he is able to impact the individual lives of each reader. Aubrey is able to relate his unique experience to the rest of the world's, and provides practical steps that help his audience actually live a life that better cultivates trust in their workplaces, communities, families, marriages, and other relationships.
I love Aubrey's honesty and his writing is succinct and powerful. He gets right down to what cultivates trust and provides tools to help leaders develop trust. I like the illustrations and simple format.
This book has really helped me in not only leading teams, but in being a good team member. But, the beauty of the concept is that it goes beyond the business context and into the real world. We've all been dealt with the aftermath of broken trust, whether it was in a work context or a interpersonal context. This is not foreign territory for any of us. We all know how to work to repair broken trust. But living your life in a way that builds trust with others, and gains you influence is more difficult. I'm grateful for this book!
The key to being a successful leader is trust. Trust allows the leader to delegate tasks and have the confidence in the team to complete the tasks. Trust is essential to productivity, but also to the building of relationships, both professionally and personally. Aubrey writes in a way that is immediately accessible, completely relevant to daily life, but also challenging to those of us who have the "if you want something one right" mentality. At thirty-six pages, it is one of the quickest, yet most important professional development books that you can read. I highly recommend it.
I think sometimes we overcomplicate things, trying to pin the areas of dysfunction in our lives on circumstances or a lack of coffee - but, as Mastering the Art of Trust drives home, the problem holding us back at work, home, or anywhere we need harmony with others might just be a lack of something as basic as trust. Yet it's the one thing so often taken for granted - Aubrey helpfully and clearly brings the issue back down to earth reminding the reader that without cultivating trust from those around you, there's always going to be a 'but' or two. He's really nice but, he's always happy to help but...
The book also provides straightforward, practical next-steps to set about the hard work of building that much needed trust. It was a timely read for me, and I heartily recommend it to anyone looking to find traction in the relationships that matter most.
